What:  Three-hour after school program designed to enhance student's academic, social, recreational, and citizenship skills in a safe, supervised environment.

Where:  Located at Cordia School  in the Knott County School District.

When: 3:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., Monday through Friday. One day a month there will be a staff meeting to review the events and prepare for the upcoming month. Students will be prompt with the dates of the meetings.

For Whom:  Students ages 6 through 13 or 1st - 8th grade.

Cost:  There is no cost to students.  The cost for personnel, materials, supplies, utilities, food and transportation are being provided by the 21st century Community Learning Center's grant through the United States Department of Education and the Mott Foundation.

    You don't necessarily have to participate in the program just because it is provided.  It is, however, highly recommended that you take part in this program.  Especially if you need improvement in one or more subject area(s), or even if you just want to broaden you educational potential.

    There is a supervised quiet room for reading and homework.  There are activities such as sports, games, arts and crafts, science and other interest areas.  Emphasis, however, will be placed on helping students academically.  The Technology Lab and Library will be open for use.

      Emphasis will be placed on making the Lotts Creek  21st Century Community Learning Center Academy a fun and safe place for students; however, students wishing to participate in the after-school classes  must abide by the same rules as during the regular school day.  Those breaking school rules will be subject to the same punishment as in a regular school classroom setting.

    The Lotts Creek 21st Century Community Learning Center Academy will be great fun for everyone.  Just think, a school program with no pop quizzes, no book reports, no grades; just fun and adventure for those willing to gain knowledge and new experiences.

    21st Century is in its 3rd year at Cordia and funding has been reduced.
